Message from the Dean

Greetings and welcome to the Department of Public Administration and Health Management at IU Kokomo. We are happy you’ve taken the time to find out more about us.

Alan Krabbenhoft, Ph.D.
Dean, School of Business

The Department of Public Administration and Health Management (PAHM) offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Bachelor of Science in Public Administration (B.S.P.A.) offers students the opportunity to pursue careers in Public Administration and Health Administration. The Master in Public Management (M.P.M.) program allows the chance to pursue a graduate degree in Public Administration and choose either a concentration in Public Management and Policy or Health Management. Within PAHM, students can also choose to pursue a Graduate Certificate in Public Management or Health Management.

While the Department of Public Administration and Health Management resides alongside the AACSB accredited School of Business, the programs offered by PAHM fall outside the scope of that accreditation.

The faculty within PAHM are all excellent teachers who are fully committed to helping students succeed. The faculty are very active researchers who have written many books, regularly publish scholarly works in academic journals, and present their research at national and international conferences. They have won numerous distinctions resulting from their work, and this research ensures they bring this knowledge and expertise into the classroom.

Within both the B.S.P.A. and the M.P.M. programs all students are required to complete at least one internship or practicum. While a critical aspect of what students learn takes place in the classroom, putting this learning into practice with real hands-on experiences is invaluable. Employers regularly tell us that as much as they are interested in what students KNOW, they are increasingly focused on what students can DO and these types of experiential learning opportunities give our students that advantage when they are in the job market.

I encourage you to take the opportunity to browse our website and hope that you will schedule an appointment to come to campus. We would love the chance to meet you, show you around, and tell you why we think the Department of Public Administration and Health Management at IU Kokomo is so special.
