Visiting School Groups

Requesting a visit

Indiana University Kokomo requires a minimum of two weeks' written notice for school groups coming to tour or use the Library. A form for requesting library visits, tours, and instruction is included in the Visiting Group Packet found below. If you have any questions regarding the request form, please contact the Information Literacy Librarian, Yan He, at yh4@iuk.edu.

Library instruction

Instruction for IUCAT and library databases is available upon request. Instruction can also be tailored to a particular group's assignment or research needs.

Library cards

Indiana Resident (INRE) borrower's cards can be issued for minors aged 16-17 and adults (18+). For minors aged 16-17, both parent/guardian and student signatures are required for cards to be prepared in advance of the library visit. Application forms can be sent upon request. Complete, printed forms should be returned to the library at least 72 hours in advance of a group's visit to ensure student entries into the library system.

Computing accounts

We will arrange for guest computer accounts for your students. These accounts will only be active while your students are on campus for their visit.

Note: Filtering software is not installed on Indiana University computers. Your students are expected to abide by their usual and customary school policies while using the Internet at Indiana University Kokomo. They are also expected to adhere to the Indiana University Appropriate Use of Information Technology Resources policy.

Parking

Parking for school buses is available in Lot G of the Observatory [see interactive map]. Students can be picked up/dropped off at either the East or West side of the library building.

One-day visitor parking permits for private vehicles may also be requested from library staff. Please ask about parking permits when scheduling your visit, and we will make a parking permit available for you to print before your visit.

Lunch

Visiting groups have the option to eat lunch in the Kelley Student Center. Please let the library staff know if groups will be having lunch. If desired, the library will schedule the group with the cafeteria.
