Students selected for law, leadership academy
A week of testing the waters of law school confirmed career choices for three future attorneys, shored up confidence in their ability to thrive in its rigorous environment, and established them as serious candidates for admission. “It’s a dream I am capable of accomplishing,” said Coral Santos. “It was a good experience to see first-hand what law school is like. At first I was overwhelmed, but by the end of the week, I realized I can do this, and this is what I want to do. It gives me hope of succeeding in law school.”
Student researches IU's history
As Indiana University prepares to celebrate its 200th anniversary, one IU Kokomo student’s research is bringing some of its historical figures to light. Delving into the archives, Hannah Bourne has read journals, scholarly writings, holiday cards, and program books from campus events nearly 100 years ago, details that helped her share the stories of those who have been part of IU’s story.
Medieval studies leads to graduate program
When Tucker Million began his search for the right graduate program; he knew he wanted to follow in the footsteps of a professor who influenced him while he earned his undergraduate degree. Million, who graduates from Indiana University Kokomo in May, earned a full tuition grant valued at approximately $40,000 per year, for the Ph.D. program in medieval history at University of Rochester. He also received a stipend to cover his expenses while he is a graduate student.
History major receives IU alumni scholarship
A history major from the Kokomo campus was one of 31 Indiana University students recognized for academic excellence and campus involvement, as a winner of the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Service Award (DASA) grants. Connor Reed, from Macy, received the $2,500 scholarship for the spring 2017 semester, allowing him to complete his degree without any additional student loan debt.
