Where do I get my cap, gown, tassel and announcements?

You will receive a flyer from Herff Jones, Inc., that will have information for ordering your cap, gown, and announcements. In addition to academic regalia, university class rings will also be available for purchase. All graduates must rent a cap and gown to participate in the ceremony.

You will pick up your cap and gown outside the IU Kokomo bookstore (Barnes and Noble), April 24-25 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. You will return your rental unit to your designated robing room at the Kokomo Event and Conference Center, or return it to the bookstore on campus following the ceremony.

What about academic distinction cords?

Academic distinction cords awarded by the university will be presented to graduates on Commencement day by the faculty marshal of each division. Only academic distinction cords awarded for academic achievement may be worn during the ceremony.

Indiana University candidates who have tentatively earned academic distinction in general scholarship are distinguished by fourragéres, which are looped cords worn from the left shoulder. Fourragéres with cream and crimson cords indicate highest distinction; those with all cream cords indicate high distinction; and those with all crimson cords indicate distinction.

Fourragéres, pins, medallions, etc., awarded by honoraries or societies that do not recognize academic achievement may not be worn during the ceremony.
