Bachelor of Science in Health Science – Health Promotion Concentration

The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences is a versatile degree that provides students with preparation for work and/or graduate school in the health field. This interdisciplinary degree is for students seeking a comprehensive understanding of the science of human health. The health promotion concentration is designed for students who want to learn the science of health through the study of nutrition, biology, anatomy and physiology, and psychology combined with program planning for health promotion by learning how to assess, implement, and evaluate programs that effectively achieve the outcome of improved health.

In the health promotion concentration, you’ll take all kinds of classes related to the things you care about most, including courses with topics ranging from the population health, diseases, motor learning and development, psychology of sport and physical activity, general nutrition, first aid and safety, and others. In this program, you’ll prepare to assess health needs and resources; plan, implement, and evaluate health programs in various health promotion settings like schools, public or community-based health, health care, and worksites. You’ll have the experience of working closely with faculty on research projects related to your interests. Adding a minor to your course of study is a way to dive in deeper and begin to specialize. We encourage you to add a minor offered in the Division of Allied Health Sciences which includes nutritional science, coaching, or sport marketing and management.
