Confidentiality

Information provided by students to CAPS is private and confidential. Visiting CAPS does not become part of a student’s academic record. Staff members will not share any information about counseling with other university departments, with family members, or with community professionals unless we have the student’s written consent to do so.

There are limitations to confidentiality. The state of Indiana requires reporting of abuse of a minor. Posing imminent threat to oneself, others, or the campus community is another case in which confidentiality may be broken.

Faculty and Staff Resources

CAPS is available to consult with faculty and staff regarding concerns about mental health issues in the campus community. Call *9553 to set up a time for consultation regarding a student or other campus concern.

CAPS is also available to provide or collaborate on workshops and seminars for staff, faculty, or students. Please email Dr. Chelsi Day at daychel@iuk.edu with requests.
