Core Curriculum
CORE CURRICULUM
The Freshman Learning Community Program is an option to fulfill IUK general education requirements for all students pursuing baccalaureate degrees at IUK. The following courses will fulfill the following general education requirements:

E103 Topics in Arts and Humanities will fulfill a 3-credit hour requirement in Category IV (Humanities).

E104 Topics in Social/Behavioral Science will fulfill a 3-credit hour requirement in Category III (Social and Behavioral Sciences).

E105 Topics in Natural and Mathematical Sciences will fulfill a 3-credit hour requirement in Category II (Natural Sciences).
The Freshman Learning Community option will continue as long as there is sufficient enrollment in these courses and sufficient faculty to teach these courses.

Category I - Fundamental Skills Credit Hour Requirements

One laboratory science course

Select a minimum of 6 credits from at least two of the following groups:
a. HIST H105, H106, H113, H114, ANTH A103, A104
b. SOC S100, S101, PSY P103
c. POLS Y103, Y107, Y109, ECON E201, E202, E200
Category IV - Humanities 6
Select 6 credits from at least two of the following groups:
a. ENG L101, L102, FOLK F101, AFRO A150
b. FINA A101, A102, MUS M174, THTR C130 or HUMA U103
c. SPAN S111, S112, OR FREN F111, F112, or GER G111, G112
d. PHIL P100, P140, P150
Total 39 - 40
Math M119 and M215 require a grade of C- or better. All other courses contained in the core require a C or better (excluding CSCI C100)
