Academic Affairs

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs maintains the integrity of IU Kokomo's academic mission by overseeing academic programs, policies, procedures, calendars, academic appointments, promotion and tenure, and faculty grants and fellowships.

Offices that report to Academic Affairs include: the IU Kokomo Library, Institutional Research, the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment, the Center for Student Success and Advising, Honors Program, and the Center for Research and Creativity. The most current annual assessment summaries are published at the Center for Teaching, Learning and Assessment's website. The Dean's Council, which is composed of deans and others who report to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, serves as the department's advisory body.

Students, we encourage you to partner with our faculty and staff during your time on campus. Join our student organizations, explore our international travel opportunities, participate in our internships experiences, and seek out research opportunities with our faculty. We have an excellent faculty who are committed to student success. Let us know how we can better serve your needs.

To our faculty colleagues, we applaud your passion for teaching and research, and we encourage you to partner with our office as you work to achieve your personal goals and the campus goals. Our challenges are great as we prepare our students to live and work in a rapidly changing global environment. However, our access to world class Indiana University resources equips us to meet these challenges.

The staff is poised and ready to help. Dr. Susan Sciame-Giesecke, the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs handles all academic issues. Dr. Kathy Parkison, Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, can answer questions on all policies and procedures, scheduling, and other administrative issues; Gerry Stroman, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Success and Advising, can answer questions related to orientation, advising and placement testing; Kathy Ross, Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment, can help with teaching related questions; and Candy Thompson, is responsible for our General Studies degree and our ACCEL program.
