Degree Requirements

The degree includes 120 hours of total course work including the following:

IU Kokomo General Education Requirements (44 credit hours for B.A. Psychology majors):

  • Communication (9 credits; W131, W132, S121) 
  • Quantitative Literacy (6 credits; M118/M119/M125 meets B.A. requirements, plus K300 Statistics for psych major)
  • Critical Thinking (3 credits)
  • Cultural Diversity (3 credits; 1 course in foreign language at 200-level or higher contributes to B.A. requirements)
  • Ethics and Civic Engagement (3 credits; specific Philosophy and Speech courses can complete B.A. requirements)
  • Social Science (6 credits; P103 completes psychology major requirements, plus H113 contributes to B.A. requirements)
  • Arts and Humanities (6 credits; choosing one course in Performing Arts and one course in Literature will complete B.A. requirements)
  • Physical and Life Sciences (8 credits; two courses from two different disciplines, including one 5-credit course with a lab)

Humanities and Social Sciences Bachelor of Arts requirements (an additional 14-23 credits):

  • Information Literacy (1 credit; C100 Computing Tools)
  • Foreign Language (3-11 credits; 6 total hours of 200-level or higher foreign language required for B.A. requirements)
  • History (3 credits; H114)
  • Social Science (3 credits; choose a discipline other than those chosen for General Education)
  • Biological and Physical Sciences (4-5 credits; includes a lab)

Psychology Major requirements (39 credit hours, below; all psychology courses require a grade of C- or higher to count towards the major)
