Instructions for completing an online application and payment beginning May 2nd will be posted on this website http://www.doe.in.gov/educatorlicensing approximately 30 days in advance of the "go live" date.  For educators whose licenses expired during the 2010-11 school year, your licenses are considered valid through the end of the school year.

Indiana Teaching Licenses vary in requirements for renewal based upon the rules under which the license was issued. Some may be renewed upon completion of six credit hours of appropriate course work in the major or minor areas of licensure and/or appropriate professional education. If so, all course work used for license renewal through the IU Kokomo School of Education must meet the following criteria:

1.  All credit hours must have been completed at an appropriately accredited academic institution.

2.  At least three of the six credit hours must have been completed at IU Kokomo.

3.  All credit hours must have been earned with a minimum grade of C.

4.  All credit hours must have been earned after the date of issue of the license being renewed.

5.  Credit hours used for license renewal cannot have been used to obtain or renew any prior license.

6.  Official transcripts verifying credit hour completion at all non-IU academic institutions must be provided to School of Education Licensing Officer.

7.  Licenses cannot be renewed more than sixty days prior to the expiration date.

8.  Standard and Provisional licenses also may be renewed with ninety Certification Renewal Units (CRUs), or with a combination of credit hour course work and CRUs, provided the applicant has completed a master's degree or thirty-six credit hours of appropriate graduate courses (fifteen CRUs equal one semester credit hour).  Please note: The Office of Educator Licensing and Development (in Indianapolis) evaluates all CRUs.

9.  Professional Non-Life licenses are valid for an initial ten-year period, followed by successive five-year renewal periods. These licenses may be renewed in the same manner and are subject to the same criteria noted above.

IMPORTANT: Additional Document Needed with Initial License Application, Only
