Any resident of the state of Indiana 18 years and older may be issued a borrower's card by completing an Indiana Resident Library Card Application form and providing a photo ID and proof of residency. The Indiana Resident Library Card Application Policy (PDF) outlines acceptable forms of identification and proof of residency. Minors 16-17 years of age may be issued a card in accordance with the Indiana Resident Library Card Policy and a special application form which requires a parent or quardian to be present and provide photo ID and proof of residency.
Card application forms are available at the Circulation/Reserves Service Desk. Form signatures should be completed in the presence of Library staff.
This card will allow you to check out materials (e.g. books, videos, CDs, and DVDs) that are available within the Indiana University Kokomo Library. Please check the library's Circulation Policies (PDF) and Loan Periods and Fine Schedule (PDF) for details.
Indiana residents may browse the library's collection or search for a specific book by using IUCAT, the online catalog for all IU Libraries. To access the catalog from off-campus, start at the Indiana University Kokomo homepage. Once there, scroll to the bottom of the page until you see the Info, News, Events, and Tools navigation menus. Within the "Info" section, click on the link for the Library. The library homepage features a link to the Kokomo campus view of IUCAT (meaning all results will be located physically or virtually at the IU Kokomo Library). Click on the IUCAT link, located in the "Discovery" box below the EDS search box, and then you may begin searching for materials.
For additional details on how to use IUCAT, see our Getting Started page.
As an Indiana resident, you may search the full catalog, but any resources that are labeled as Online Resource are only available from off-campus to IU Kokomo students, faculty, and staff. However, you may access these online/electronic resources from on-campus using the library's public access computers.
Here is an example of how an online/electronic resource record is displayed within IUCAT. For more help using IUCAT, please Ask A Librarian.
Indiana residents may access all of the library's resources, both print and electronic, from two public access computers located on the first floor of the library, near the Ask A Librarian service desk. To better understand both the resources you might access at these terminals and how to best use such resources, see our Public Access and Research page.
