Learn how to renew materials you have checked out from the library.
Students and faculty may renew library materials by using the My Account feature in IUCAT, the IU Libraries' online catalog. Access IUCAT from the library homepage. Click on the IUCAT link within the Discovery box on the page to access the catalog and log in to your library account.
To renew materials, first access the catalog, and then click on the "My Account" link in the top menu bar.
After clicking on "My Account", an instructional pop-up box will appear. Click on the red IU Login button at the bottom of the box to continue.
Enter your IU username and passphrase to complete your login to IUCAT.
Within your IUCAT account, you will see three tabs: one for items you have checked out; a second for any delivery requests you have made for items from other IU libraries; and a third for links to interlibrary loan and recall services for all IU libraries. (Note that items you have requested through Interlibrary Loan will not appear on either the Delivery Requests or Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery/Recall tab. Rather, log in to ILLiad to view your Interlibrary Loan requests.)
From this area, you have the option to review or renew materials that you have checked out or requested. If any items are eligible for renewal, you may click the Renew button to the right of the item.
Log out of My Account when you are done.
You may also renew materials in person at the library's Circulation/Reserves service desk. Phone renewals will also be accepted during library hours. For phone renewals, please be prepared to provide your IU library card number, your name and address, and information about the item(s) you would like to renew (the barcode number on the item may be required).
Materials with outstanding fines or with holds or recalls placed on them may not be renewed.
