Digital Media Center
The Digital Media Center, located inside the Library, is a multimedia production facility that allows the creativity of its users to take form. The Center serves the students, faculty, and staff of Indiana University Kokomo. Users can create graphics, work on Web projects, create or edit videos, record audio, and author CDs or DVDs. The Digital Media Center offers six Mac multimedia stations and two production rooms.
Hours of Operation
The Digital Media Center is open when the Library is open. Click here for current Library hours and holiday or semester break exceptions. The Center is open to the students, faculty, and staff of IU Kokomo. The main room of the Digital Media Center is open on a first come, first served basis. The two enclosed production rooms must be reserved in advance for use, as per the Digital Media Center User Policies.
Who Might Use the Digital Media Center?
The world increasingly communicates through digital media, and the courses at IU Kokomo reflect that in terms of projects assigned to students. Spanish students might be asked to record a podcast instead of writing a paper or essay. Nursing students might be asked to create a video presentation on a specific medical topic. Drama students might be asked to record their play, or journalism students might be asked to record an audio interview. The Digital Media Center is designed to offer users the resources they might use to complete these multimedia projects.
IU Kokomo offers a number of digital media-related classes, including classes in graphic design, new media communication, and studio digital media. Below are links to student projects that were created in the Digital Media Center--see student creativity take form! (Links forthcoming.)
