Conference Presentations and Poster Session
Call for Proposals
Resident and adjunct faculty from all Indiana University campuses are invited to submit proposals to share their innovative teaching ideas for connecting the threads in their classes.
Please submit a 350 to 500 word proposal via email to email@example.com with the subject “Faculty Conference Proposal.” Include the following:
- the title of your session
- presenter name(s)
- the kind of session you are proposing (presentation/demonstration, panel, tutorial, or poster)
- a description of your topic
- how it supports good teaching practice
- impact on student learning and engagement
All proposals are due by 12 noon Friday, April 20, 2012. Proposals will be peer-reviewed for selection by several IU Kokomo FACET members.
You will be notified by email by Friday, May 4, 2012 whether your submission is selected.
Breakout Session Types – all 45 minutes long
Presentation – 45 minutes presentation/demonstration including planned audience interaction time
Tutorial – 45 minutes of leading participants in active learning to “show and try” how to use a teaching method, strategy, or technology application of broad interest to faculty
Panel Discussion – 45 minutes including planned audience interaction time
Poster Session - 30 minutes
Poster presenters will be provided with an easel or table and access to wifi. Equipment and materials, such as a laptop computer, display materials, and print materials will need to be provided by the presenter. Attendees will have time to visit the poster displays and talk with the presenters about the topics. A poster session is a good choice for presentations that emphasize visual elements, such as web pages, charts and graphs, or course materials.
