These students are chosen because of their interpersonal skills, academic achievements and leadership abilities. Student Orientation Leaders serve as positive role models and have the opportunity to welcome new students and parents to the IU Kokomo community. Student Orientation Leaders assists the orientation staff, facilitate small group discussions, participate in skits, help new students to register and always convey the spirit and sense of community that is a part of the IU Kokomo campus.  Look for them through the year to assist you.

Hello I’m Ashley Miller, originally from Fort Wayne but have grew up in this area since I was 6. I’m a graduate of Maconaquah High School. While I was there I was a member of the SADD program, president of Sunshine Society, Speech team, Maconaquah Marching Braves (Marching Band), and Winter Percussion. I’m currently 20 and a sophomore at IUK. I work on campus as an Orientation Leader, and also in the Cole Fitness Center.

I am an Orientation Leader, as well as a peer advisor for the Office of Student Success and Advising. I am in charge of marketing for IUK's Psychology Club, and when I grow up I want to be a marriage and family counselor. I'm a movie buff and my cheesecake is to die for!

Hello! My name is Lindsay Brewer. I'm a junior communications major. I enjoy volunteering, philanthropic work, spending time with my friends and family, and watching movies. After graduation I hope to work for a non-profit organization fundraising for their cause. My main goal is to make a dramatic difference in one person's life; I will take every necessary step to ensure this happens!

I am a 26 year old married mother of two wonderful Children. I am sophomore pursuing a dual major in Biological and Physical Science and Psychology. I am a not traditional student and LOVE IUK! I am not only a peer advisor, but I work in the office of administration finance and human resources. I am the fundraising chairman of Phi Sigma Sigma Iota Epsilon. I am about to become a cancer survivor and my mantra for life is this too shall pass. I love science, with an emphasis in Neuro science, psychology, and family. I pride myself in being a lifelong learner with an entrepreneurial spirit. My future plans consist of attending med school to obtain a dual MD/PHD in Clinical psychiatry and neuroscience. I hope to either conduct Neuro research for brain and learning disorders, or own and operate an independent clinical practice. I live every moment like it is my last and give nothing less than 110%!

My name is Mary Olk; I am a junior Communication/public relations major (with a minor in leadership) and I currently serve as an Orientation Leader. I work in the media/marketing office at IU-Kokomo and I love every minute of it! I serve in several capacities, (Editor-in-Chief of the campus newspaper, Student Government Association Senator). In my leisure I like to curl up to a good book, watch movies or go shopping.

I am a third year student, majoring in Pre-Radiography.  I currently serve as an orientation leader and I work in the welcome center.  I am also a member of the Student Ambassadors.  Besides being a student, I am married and a mom of three daughters.

I am a Nursing and Psychology double major.  I am currently a Sophomore 1 in the nursing program and live in Peru with my wife and 8-month old daughter whom I delivered.  I am President of the Student Athletics and Wellness board and President of the Student Veterans Organization.  I am the Vice-President of the Psychology Club, Assistant Editor of The Correspondent, and IU SEEK Mentor, a Student Ambassador, and an Orientation Leader.

My name is Brandon Hainlen and I am a Senior Accounting major here at IU Kokomo. This is my 4th year as an Orientation Leader. I also work in the Cole Fitness and Wellness Center. I will graduate in May and return for another year to earn my MBA. After earning my MBA, I will have met the necessary requirements to take the CPA exam.

I am an energetic, positive girl who loves shoes, chocolate, and Jesus, and my favorite color is Yellow! I enjoy being involved on IU Kokomo’s beautiful campus. I am a certified Radiologic Technologist, and I am continuing by education for my Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Imaging Technology for Ultrasound. I am a Senator in the Student Government Association and a Student Ambassador. I am eager to help others in any way I can. If you see me on campus, be sure to say “Hi!”

For the past two years, I have served as an orientation leader, work in the library at the circulation desk and served as president of the Folklore and Urban Legends club. I also have a certificate in homeland security.

My name is Kristianna Upchurch and I am a nationally certified pharmacy technician. I am a senior Public and Environmental Affairs major (with concentration in Health Administration and a minor in Leadership and International studies). I currently serve as an orientation leader, peer advisor, student ambassador, and representative for the degree completion task force, president of SIFE, SGA Senator and secretary of the Student Government Finance Committee. Not only am I active on campus I am also active in the community; where I serve on the Board of Directors for the Gilead house. I almost forgot to mention, I LOVE YOGA!

Hello! My name is Shayne. I am a student at IU Kokomo as a psychology major. I have high hopes that I will one day be a behavioral analyst for the FBI. I plan on getting my masters and then my doctorate to make this goal a reality. I am a peer adviser and an orientation leader at IUK. I am a member of the IUK Crescendos and Diminuendos, two of our choirs on campus. I also have recently become a member of the Kokomo Civic Theater (KCT). My outside hobbies include reading, swimming, gaming, organizing, collecting cards, and watching Netflix.

My name is Tiffiny Ziegler and I am a junior radiography major here at Indiana University Kokomo. I plan to go to the Medical imaging Technologist program and get my bachelor’s in one of many modalities of radiology. In addition to being an orientation leader, I am the chairman for the fundraising committee for the Medical imaging Club. I like to participate in as many campus activities as I can as a way to create connections with my peers. I have made several friends this way and believe it I a great experience.

I participate in many volunteer service projects and activities within the community.

I am a psychology major with a minor in Leadership Studies. In addition to being an Orientation Leader; I am also Student Body President of Student Government Association.  I am treasurer of Psychology Club, contributing writer to the campus newspaper, The Correspondent, and serve as a teaching assistant for PSYCH-P326 Neuroscience class with Dr. Kevin Clark, a psychology professor. I am a member of the Cougar Crazies which is the student cheer section for our basketball and volleyball teams. I also sit on IUK’s student panel for VIP days and answer questions visiting high school students may have about our campus and college life. I am very involved!
